St. Dominic Catholic Primary School offers Nursery provision in a happy, secure and caring setting. We aim to create a stimulating environment where all children are encouraged and motivated to explore, discover and learn. At the end of their time with us, we hope the children will leave Nursery with a solid foundation on which to build their future learning. We know that as parents/carers you aim to provide the best for your child - as educators, we want to work with you in partnership to do the same.
In September 2020, St Dominic School will offer 15 hours FREE Nursery education, between 08:45 and 11:45 Monday to Friday, term-time only. There are 30 places available. These are open to children whose third birthday falls between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020. ‘Pre-School’ afternoon sessions will also be offered by Friends Together (our trusted breakfast and after school provider) for those who are interested.
In addition to morning and afternoon sessions, we also offer Lunch Club provision which will be run by St. Dominic School. Parents have the option to pay for this additional session, with the children bringing in a packed lunch from home. For children just attending the morning session, this will run from 11.45am until 1.00pm and will cost £7.50 per session. For children staying for the afternoon session, this will run from 11.45am until 12.30pm and will cost £6.00. Both of these sessions should be booked via our online booking system and are payable through Gateway. We ask for parents to establish a weekly pattern for a half term block.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to you and invite you to visit our Nursery provision. Open Mornings are being held on Thursday 6 February, Wednesday 12 February and Tuesday 25 February 2020. Please call the School Office if you would like to book a visit appointment or if you have any questions about our provision.
If you decide to apply for our Nursery and any extended care, then please complete the Nursery Application Forms (these will be available on the website when applications open on Monday 3 February), and return them to school by Monday 2 March 2020. We will email you with the outcome of your application by 4.30pm on Monday 16 March 2020.
30 hours Free Childcare for 3- and 4-Year-Olds
In September 2017, funding for early education for 3- and 4-year-old children changed. The universal offer of free early education of up to 15 hours a week term time increased to 30 hours for eligible working parents of 3- and 4-year-olds in England. The idea behind the 30 hours provision is to support parents who work, as well as encourage parents back into work.
To find out if you are eligible for the 30 hours provision, please read:
30 Hours Provision – Friends Together
Friends Together is a separate provider, running Pre-School sessions in the Nursery classroom in the afternoon. For parents who are entitled to 30 hours free childcare, the afternoon session is from 12.30pm until 3.30pm. If parents are not eligible for the 30 hour entitlement, we are offering the option of paying for the afternoon sessions and this will be managed by and payable to Friends Together. Friends Together is also able to offer breakfast and after school provision if you should require it. There are a limited number of places for afternoon care – please contact Juliette Warrington at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
There are now many options available to parents in relation to childcare. For further details on what these options are please visit the new Childcare Choices Website (https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/) set up by HMRC. This also gives information about the new Tax-Free Childcare scheme and includes a childcare calculator so you can compare your different options.
If you are interested in signing up to Friends Together for your additional 15 hours, you need to:
- Visit the website hertfordshire.gov.uk/parents to check eligibility.
- Access the website to apply: You will receive a voucher code if you are eligible which you will need for your application.
