Travelling to St. Dominic School

Walking, Scooting & Cycling

We encourage families and visitors to the school to travel on foot or by cycle or scooter whenever possible.

There is sheltered cycle and scooter parking outside the mobile classrooms in the walled area to the left of the main car park. Please ask at the school office for assistance finding it.

Public Transport

The school is 650m, approx. 8 minutes walk, from Harpenden Railway Station with services operated by Govia Thameslink.

The 321 and 657 bus services stop close to the school.  The 321 service runs at least every 20 minutes during the school day, between Luton and Watford via Harpenden and St Albans.  The 657 service runs hourly during the school day, between Redbourn, Harpenden, Wheathampstead and St Albans.

Car Parking

There is limited on-street parking on Southdown Road outside the school, with restrictions 10am-11am and 11am-12 noon.

Parents wishing to travel to school by car are encouraged to Park & Stride whenever possible.  The Skew Bridge public house on Southdown Road allows parents to park in their car park for up to 30 minutes between 8:30am & 9:30am and 3:00pm & 3:45pm, but you must register your car inside the pub to avoid a fineCars must be registered every time the Skew Bridge car park is used.  There is additional free off-street parking at Baa Lambs Car Park on Harpenden Common opposite the school.

Details of on-street parking and car parks close to the school, and their restrictions, can be found here

Please note that use of the school car park is restricted to Staff and authorised visitor parking only.  Parents may not use the school car park without prior permission.

Parents are encouraged to sign up to the St Dominic School Parking Promise.

School Crossing Patrol

We are very fortunate to have a school crossing patrol outside the school between 8:30am & 9:00am and again between 3:00pm & 3:30pm to help families cross Southdown Road safely.  Please always make use of this facility when crossing the road with children.
